Mongklor (Hlong: Mɔ̀ŋklɔ) was a kingdom lasting between 2330 to 2734 CY. The kingdom was founded after the Hlong Rebellion led by Buul Japal in 2330 CY, years after the Bosso Empire's collapse. Mongklor is noted for being the only known Hlong state in history.

Etymology

Mongklor's name was coined by its first king, Buul Japal, combining the Hlong name Mɔ̀n of the Bosso war deity Umɔ̀nɔ̀ with the Hlong word klɔ, meaning "town". Although Mongklor was the official name of the kingdom as proposed by Buul Japal, few written accounts also refer to Mongklor by alternative Hlong names like Ku-Japalal ("land of Japal"), or the Nyamu exonym Ṣoŋoŋkù ("land of the Hlong")
