Etymology

The name Samatkhaoul comes from the Old Ibsa term ⲛ̀ϣⲁⲙⲁⲧ ⲭⲁⲁⲟⲩⲟⲩⲗ ən-śamat khāwūl, meaning 'the fertile river'.
