History
Origins (4510–4516)
Northern Etzavaz was a highly politically unstable region in the wake of the Revolutions of 4510, which had led among other things to the collapse of the monarchies in Talozh and Mesvadin, as well as the independence of Sydosha from the latter. Founded on 13 Baimither 4510, the Republic of Talozh was the first modern republic in Etzavaz. With its Republican Assembly being largely composed of political and military officials from the old regime, Talozh was built on strong foundations and quickly established itself as a sovereign state. On the other hand, the revolutionary government of Mesvadin, which had purged the majority of the former officials, was woefully underequipped to handle national affairs. Officially established on 20 Massaigh 4511 following a long and bloody revolutionary conflict, the nascent republic encountered increasingly difficult challenges over the following year.
The Central Etzavazi Republic was established on 1 Taime 4512, originally as the first step towards a larger pan-Verethian state. It was formed from a union of Talozh and Mesvadin. Pan-Verethian sentiment had been emboldened since the late 45th century due to the encroaching Fuggic colonial presence of the Dominion of the Triangle Sea. In late 4511, several world powers began to worry that Mesvadin was close to becoming an egalitarian regime; it had a highly organized and socially conscious working class and the newly appointed army's chief of staff was known to hold egalitarian beliefs. The union of Talozh and Mesvadin was proposed by Talozhi Delegate Name Nameson as a means to rid the Mesvadi government of Tzalists. The government of Mesvadin collapsed on 26 Sacha 4512, and the republic was united with Talozh five days later.
Talozh and Mesvadin were designated as the two "constituent nations" of the Central Etzavazi Republic, each with their own devolved autonomous government which were under the unified government. The republic was quite Talozhi-centric in its early years, with the majority of government officials being ethnic Talozhi, as well as the choice to make Talozh's capital Mezhdeg the capital of the Central Etzavazi Republic.
Following the collapse of the Dominion of the Triangle Sea, the Republic of Kagatonah would be proclaimed on D M 4516. This republic was politically unstable on account of being the first time a Kagatoni nation-state had been established, as the Kagatoni had historically until this point had a largely tribal structure. The post-Dominion states were plagued with conflict, namely the (TBA) War between Kagatonah and the Fuggic Etzavazi Republic. The combined factors of military defeat and internal conflicts led to Kagatonah opting to form a union with the stronger Central Etzavazi Republic, becoming a constituent nation of the republic. The addition of Kagatonah led to a debate about the previous pan-Verethian goals for the Central Etzavazi Republic, and marked a shift in focus from forming an ethnostate to modernizing the region.
