Hoggic mythology, also known as Ashnanic folk religion or Ashnanic traditional religion is the common mythological tradition of various Phelo and Ashnanic peoples. It is largely no longer practised as a religion, other than some modern religious movements. It had significant influence upon Khëgism, Yaramic traditional religion, as well as Kunwidya in Western Ashnan.

Long before the creation of the world, there were many different realms of the world, countless spheres of influence, ruled by countless godly beings, who ruled over countless creatures of indeterminate forms. These realms squabbled and quarreled with each other, leaving the world a brutal and war torn place. These times of war were only broken following the Great Unification of the realms. Three Gods, three Kings, conquered the realms and consolidated them into three stable, peaceful realms, calming the world. The God Hoghóshm is the God of the Sky he ruled the clouds and the heavens above, located above the realm of the land. The God Ekknaan is the God of the Land, the earthly world known to man, and the seas as well. The God Elmúúgha is the God of the Unknown, the realm of mystery and darkness, which dwells below the realm of the land. These three God Kings rule the known universe, and brought an end to the times of war, but they are not the only ones.

Deities and other divinities

The God Kings are not the only divine beings to occupy their realms. Directly beneath them you have Minor Gods, and beneath them you have Semiminor Gods. This chain goes down until reaching the intelligent creatures of the realm, who are all descended from these various godly lineages. These subjects carry out their bidding, using sacrifices, chants, prayers, and great deeds to strengthen their deity. The stronger the deity is, the longer their lifespan is, leading to near-immortality for the God Kings and mortality for their lowest subjects. All beings contain a vital energy known as soul, the more soul within a being, the stronger they are. Humans, and lesser creatures beneath them contain small amounts of soul, while the God Kings contain the greatest. It is possible for even humans to ascend to the status of a God King, but one would have to slay many Semiminor and Minor Gods to even hope to achieve such a feat. Those with godly powers, such as the God Kings, the Minor Gods, and the Semiminor Gods, may harness the innate power of their domain. That is to say, magic. They use this power to exercise their will over their domains, and potentially to fight against others. Peace is known between the Three God Kings, but those under them may be quarrelsome and fight amongst each other.
