The Jaara people are an indigenous Nkungu ethnic group of mixed Hlong and Gara origin primarily inhabiting the northwestern area of Khobeh, namely the Jaara province, which is named after the people. The Jaara are the result of contact between Hlong peoples in the north and an influx of migrating Gara tribes from the west during the 24th century CY. Historically, Jaara people were also largely involved with the Hlong Rebellion leading to the founding of Mungklor in 2332 CY. The Jaara have a mixed Hlong-Gara language known as Laka, but its use has significantly decreased since the 45th century CY due to the prevalence of Nyamu and various Nyamu dialects.
